Family dispute resolution is a process that enables families to come to an agreement on issues of parenting and property. This process is also called ‘mediation’ and it takes place in a non-adversarial environment, facilitated by qualified and impartial practitioners who are known as ‘mediators’.

Your mediator will explain everything in a clear, simple way, so that you both fully understand what needs to be done to find a way forward. They can give you helpful and practical and assist you to make calm decisions and resolve big conflicts in a way that everyone agrees on.

All this is done in a safe space where you can feel free to share your opinions. Everything discussed is completely confidential and legally assisted meditation can also be made available.

Your Family Relationship Centre

Big life events like marriage breakdown, grief and loss can be hard for anyone to deal with, but they’re especially hard on your children. During these difficult times, having a safe space where both you and your children can find external support can mean the world.

Your Anglicare Family Relationship Centre is a safe place for you to find help and care that puts your children first. We’re here to guide you through this tense and stressful season… and out the other side!
Family dispute resolution
If you are recently separated or divorced, it may be a requirement that you attend family dispute resolution prior to applying to the court for a parenting order.
Just as the name suggests, family dispute resolution involves the whole family. This includes your children. The process will help you understand the things your child sees as most important to them, so you can make a practical parenting plan that meets these needs as you move forward.

There are a number of steps in the mediation process which can take time. Mediation is an investment in the wellbeing of your family and in the wellbeing of your children.
Property mediation
Separation when shared property is involved can be very stressful. What happens to the house, the care, the bank accounts and insurance? And who will be responsible for your shared debts?

Your mediator can help you navigate this challenging process and come to agreement on the division of all your assets end debts.
Other family supports
From counselling for parents and children along with educational seminars Anglicare offers other supports to help you move past the strong emotions that often come with relationship breakdown… and build a healthy co-parenting partnership in the best interests of your children!
