Counselling

Counselling

If you are struggling with your relationships or living with symptoms of depression, anxiety or stress, then Anglicare’s qualified and experienced counsellors can help you.

Work with your counsellor to find solutions to the challenges you’re facing and enjoy a safe space where you can speak honestly with a trained professional.

Help is available via phone, online and face to face.

“A counsellor acts as your sounding board. They provide you with a compassionate and understanding space where you be vulnerable, be heard, be respected and supported.”
Melinda, Anglicare Counsellor

Your counsellor will help you to look at your situation with fresh eyes. This can help you gain a better understanding of what’s happening and how it may be affecting your life. Counselling can also help you:

  • improve your communication
  • enhance the way your family functions
  • enrich your relationships
  • improve your emotional and mental health
  • improve your parenting skills
  • enhance your self-awareness
  • navigate life transitions such as separation, divorce, grief and retirement
  • provide support if you are experiencing family and domestic violence.

NDIS Counselling

If you have been funded for Improved Daily Living under your NDIS plan, then you may be able to use your funding for counselling at Anglicare.

Talk with a compassionate counsellor about the life you want to live and work with them to identify your existing strengths. Through your counselling sessions (which are tailored to you and your unique needs!) you’ll gain tools and skills to help build your capacity and achieve your NDIS goals.

Your counsellor can help you to:

  • learn to understand yourself and others
  • develop and improve your relationships with loved ones, friends, at school, at work and in your community
  • find direction in your life
  • set and achieve meaningful goals
  • learn self-care techniques
  • identify your challenging behaviours and find more adaptive strategies for managing them
  • improve your mental health and wellbeing.

Your privacy and confidentiality are assured. However, your counsellor can also work collaboratively with your loved ones, carers and other support services if that is something you’d like.
